Happy Blog Birthday to Me!

1-Year-Blog-Anniversary

So the boy decided 5.30am was an entirely acceptable time to wake up this morning! Little joker. But I can’t be annoyed at him; early mornings are always the best times for me to blog. Quite how I get the words flowing at this early time of day I don’t know, but I do love writing at this time of day.

And I was thrilled to wake up this morning to have an alert from WordPress informing me it’s been one year today since I launched Beauty, Baby and Me! My baby I created whilst carrying my baby!!!

I can’t believe it’s been a year. I’ll be honest, it was a slow start, but I always knew it would be. I started my blog because I love to write, I have always found it so therapeutic and I wanted to record my pregnancy. But as times gone on, the thing I’ve come to love the most about blogging is reaching out to other Mums, and offering support and reassurance in my very honest manner of writing.

I’m not really one to beat about the bush, which is obviously something that comes across in my writing, but I think it’s a positive. I’ve had some downright amazing comments thanking me for writing so honestly about things because it’s helped someone, reassured them, and made them know they’re not the only one.

This past year has been an absolute whirlwind and I can’t quite get over how much I’ve achieved. Obviously (duh!) I am a Mum now and that has got to be the thing I am proudest of in the whole world. Josh has taught me so much; to slow down, be more patient, an unconditional love like no other. And he is the reason for me starting Beauty, Baby and Me. I love sharing our life with you all. I’m so proud of my blog and what I’ve achieved with it. Having only been up and running for a year, I have somehow got to the finals of the MAD (Mum and Dad) Blog Awards, for which I’ll be attending the fancy pants ceremony in September. When I got told I’d made the final 6 I literally went into some sort of shock! I couldn’t believe it, and although I know I don’t have a cat in hells chance of winning, to attend the ceremony and get to meet some amazing bloggers who I admire and am huge fans of, is such a big deal to me. I know it sounds cheesy but I do feel very proud of myself.

My blog has been my lifeline too; I found the first couple of months of motherhood really hard. It’s without a doubt the biggest eye opener in the world. But when I had rough days and I blogged it really helped. As ever I was honest about how I was feeling, these new challenges that no amount of reading books and watching one born every minute can prepare you for.  And it really did help me. Again I got some amazing, supportive messages and as I’ve already said, it helps so much to know it’s not just you going through those difficult days.

One final thing I have to say that I am overjoyed has come of my blogging is the friendships I’ve made. I went into this with no idea of the friends I’d make, but the blogging community is so incredibly supportive of one another. I have grown very close to a couple of bloggers in particular (Bridie and Rach I’m looking at you) but there are so many amazing bloggers out there I’m thrilled to be able to call friends and call upon when I need advice or a chat.

I have to finish by thanking the hubs. Months and months he went on at me to start a blog, saying what an amazing writer I was and I could really make something of it… well guess what darling you were right (as always) and I can’t thank you enough for pushing me to do something I adore and am so passionate about.

Who knows what the next year holds. I’ve got goals of course, the main one on the agenda at the moment is starting a Vlog which would be terrifying and exciting in equal measures. And as those of you who regularly read my blog will know, I’ve got some goals I’m aiming for. I cannot thank you enough if you’re someone who reads my blog, it means so much that people like to read what I write and I can’t wait to keep sharing our adventures with you all.

I best make sure I have some prosecco tonight to celebrate… somethings never change!
